A spotlight seeking bird has hijacked a bluegrass performance in the US by flying onto the lead singer's guitar mid-song and refusing to budge.

Footage of the tiny bird flying onto Josh Williams' guitar strap as he sung 'Mordecai' at the Doyle Lawson Bluegrass Festival in North Carolina on May 5 last year, has only just gone viral in recent days.

The stunned singer stopped strumming as the bird perched itself on his instrument but he continued to serenade the bird, stroking its back with his finger as the crowd cheered

Here you are, Abby a video of "the landing" : Josh Williams - Mordecai

Also posts from the youtube video:

What was the fate of the bird? It looked too young to be out of a nest. I hope I don't regret asking this :/

A women sitting in the front row was a veterinarian. She returned the two chicks to their nest and, as far as I know, they were accepted back.

That is a great seed Abby, that little birdie knows good music when he hears it, very cool.

Piltre - In your YouTube video you can hear a bird chirping during the tune before it lands. Good to know the little one found his way home. Gandolf has a soft spot for that story :o)

That was great. It was a good song, I guess the bird thought so too.

Stop The Hypocrisy

Something similar happened to me years ago, at work. I was walking from one office to another via an open courtyard, minding my own business, when a hummingbird landed on my shoulder. He looked at me, I looked at him; I didn't dare touch him. He just hitched a ride for about 5 minutes before flying off. He must have been tired or disoriented or something because I have cats and I have no doubt he could smell them.

They say fans come in all shapes and sizes; I guess they should also include "species," as well!

A couple of months ago, my friend was flying [his hang glider] at about 2,500ft, and he noticed a shadow on his sail. He was flying with a Bald Eagle. That eagle flew with him for at least fifteen minutes, never getting further away than about fifty feet, nor closer than about ten. My friend had flown with other birds, but never with one of these noble birds.

That is something really special, flying with a bird like that. Isn't that every body's dream?
