Iran has told world powers it is ready to resume talks as soon as possible over its disputed nuclear program, according to a letter obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press.

It is an offer that could reflect its difficulty in coping with tough US and European sanctions, or amount to another delaying tactic as it moves ahead with activities that could bring it closer to developing an atomic bomb.

The letter from chief Iranian nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili was sent Tuesday, just a day before Iran claimed two major advances in producing nuclear fuel and indicated it was on the verge of imposing an oil embargo on European countries to retaliate for sanctions.

Stall just enough to move the weapon to a undisclosed location. How long until another iranian scientist gets blown up?

Even if they are serious.....

The time to talk is past. Either inspectors are feet on the ground in Iran tomorrow, or Iran will be assigned responsibility for any action the international community, or any individual nation takes. We've been deceived far too many times with Iran's delaying tactics.

This is no news. It is merely a repeat of a tactic Iran has tried in the past, only to renege on its offers. Iran is one of those countries where one can only discern the truth through observation of their actions. Their words are less than meaningless, and those that trust them are fools.

They must be very close to completing their program.

They just need to stall a little bit more...

My thoughts exactly!

I would not trust the present regime.

The Iranians are a wonderful people, but their current leaders are barbaric.

They are making their own people suffer greatly :-(

If the Iranians were wonderful people they would have not have allowed their government to become what it is. They are far from wonderful but rather are inept on handling their problems in country.

Hi Abby. Let's not forget what this regime has done to it's own populace. It stole the last elections and brutalized the opposition. It is actively involved in the killing fields in Syria. It is not representative of the people. They are stalling and distracting the world from Assad. Ahmadinejad is a bad man. Remember Neda!

If Iran is going finish a nuclear weapon, they're going to finish it. The US didn't try to stop India or Pakistan. Stopping Iran is nothing more than saber rattling for Israel and US wing nut, chickenhawks.

Tonight on Faux, Hannity was going on how "we" should be joining with Israel to bomb out Irani nuclear facilities.

The Islamic Republic of Iran--under the new government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad--is engaged in a major anti-homosexual pogrom targeting gays and gay sex. This campaign includes Internet entrapment, blackmail to force arrested gays to inform on others, torture and executions of those found guilty of engaging in "homosexual acts."

Homosexual acts have been considered a capital crime in Iran since the 1979 revolution that brought the Ayatollah Khomeini to power. Iranians found guilty of gay lovemaking are given a choice of four death styles: being hanged, stoned, halved by a sword or dropped from the highest perch. According to Article 152 of Iran's penal law, if two men not related by blood are found naked under one cover without good reason, both will be punished at a judge's discretion.

Well it seems totally stupid for the Washington elite to publicly rather phoo phoo the nuclear efforts of Iran. That's almost like you're asking for it.

Thought for years it was the right thing to do to hate the Japanese for Pearl Harbor. However, if your read and believe one the very best historians of all time, you will learn that the Japanese had no choice but to attack Pearl Harbor. Our own government provoked them!

We all know they are just stalling. These sanctions may be hurting the common folk, the "middle class" of iran but does the government care, of course not. I can see them trying to stop exporting oil to the west but thats their main source of income so lets be serious that won't happen.

This is just another example why we need to stop the dependence on fossil fuels and move on. The middle east has a chokehold on the world.
